About Us

Founded in 1890 near Tournai, Brasserie de Brunehaut is a Belgian craft brewery dedicated to producing high-quality organic and gluten-free beers using traditional top-fermentation and bottle-conditioning methods.

Rooted in centuries of brewing heritage, the brewery combines local sourcing, sustainable practices, and innovative techniques – such as natural gluten removal – to create balanced, characterful beers. As one of Europe’s first B Corp-certified breweries, Brunehaut is committed to environmental responsibility, fair partnerships with farmers, and brewing with integrity, offering a modern expression of Belgian beer that respects both nature and tradition.

Our History

Brunehaut’s brewing roots trace back to 1096, when beer was first produced at the Abbaye de Saint-Martin in Tournai as a vital source of nourishment for the local community. After the abbey and its brewery were destroyed during the French Revolution, the original recipes were preserved and later revived in 1890 with the founding of Brasserie de Brunehaut.

Today, the brewery continues this centuries-old tradition, combining historic abbey brewing methods with modern organic and gluten-free innovation to create a new generation of Belgian beers.
